Gastric Plication surgery, also called laparoscopic greater curvature plication, gastric imbrication, or pseudo sleeve surgery, is similar to the Gastric Sleeve in that it creates a smaller stomach and restrict the amount of food that a patient eats. The big difference between the Gastric Sleeve surgery and the Gastric Plication surgery is that with the Gastric Plication, the stomach is sewed in on itself in a wrap rather than with the Gastric Sleeve, where the bariatric surgeon would just remove about 80% of the stomach. This surgery helps the patient feel fuller when eating, as the stomach area has been greatly reduced and ideally a patient will eat less and lose weight.
