What to Expect during a Bypass Revision Surgery
Anesthesia

Small Incisions
Next, your doctor will create incisions to access the stomach and small intestine. We use laparoscopic techniques during gastric bypass to minimize the risk of side effects and reduce discomfort. You can also expect a shorter recovery period than is needed following traditional surgery.
Band Removal
Patients who have previously had a gastric banding procedure will first need to have the band removed. This step can resolve any issues that were related to slipping or shifting of the band, such as irritation of the stomach tissue.
Stomach Pouch
The surgeon will then perform the restrictive portion of the procedure by creating a small stomach pouch. After treatment, your stomach will only be able to comfortably hold about an ounce of food at a time. This means you will feel full more quickly after eating much smaller amounts than you are used to.
Division of the Small Intestine
