What is a SASI S Gastric Bypass?

How the SASI S is performed:

Step 2: Measuring the small intestine. Here with the SASI S Bypass the doctor will start the count and work his or her way up from the colon, bypassing between 2.5 and 3 meters from the colon up. (For the RNY bypass, the count is from the stomach down and about 1.5 meters is bypassed). With the SASI S more of the intestine is bypassed, and the real benefit is that there is only 1 single Anastomosis or connection.
Step 3: Making the connection with the small intestine and the sleeve. At Weight Loss Team we make sure to double suture the anastomosis to ensure a proper seal.
Step 4: Performing the Blue Dye Test to ensure there are no leaks.
The real benefit to the SASI S is the patient will consume less amounts of food similar to a sleeve patient, and have the benefit of the hunger hormone grehlin being removed, while also having the benefit of a gastric bypass. With the SASI S about 75% of the food consumed is bypassed and about 25% of the food is absorbed like normal by the body. Also since there is no real pouch the patient can have endoscopic procedures down the road and the camera should have no issues going into the intestine, something that is not possible with the gastric bypass nor mini bypass.
